Mr. Sanjeev Sabarad – Computer Hardware and Networking Training
Mr. Sanjeev Sabarad, from Hanamakoppa village in HanagalTaluk, Haveri District, studied ITI and had a keen interest in learning computer hardware. Through a friend, he learned about the free computer training offered by CBD RSETI Haliyal. After acquiring basic computer knowledge, he successfully passed the selection interview and joined a 45-day Computer Hardware and Networking training program, which ran from October 16, 2023, to November 29, 2023.
With his ITI background and prior experience, Sanjeev quickly mastered the technical skills in hardware and networking. He was enthusiastic about solving all the technical challenges presented during the training. Additionally, he had the opportunity to learn about entrepreneurship development.
After completing the training, Sanjeev promptly prepared to start his own service center in AkkiAlur. The soft skills he gained during the training facilitated a swift project launch. He approached Canara Bank’s Gejjihalli branch for financial support. After reviewing his viable project, the bank manager approved a loan of Rs. 1.50 lakhs. Sanjeev contributed Rs. 1 lakh from his family to meet the margin requirements, enabling him to secure the bank loan. With a total project cost of Rs. 2.50 lakhs, he started his business.
The skills he acquired during the training, such as customer service, marketing management, financial management, communication skills, and time management, helped him rapidly grow his business. His dedication and commitment to customer needs have resulted in a net profit of Rs. 24,500 per month. Moreover, he has earned a good reputation in the area, leading to numerous business opportunities.

Smt. Savita Veerappa Masalawad – Jute Products Udyami Training
Smt. Savita Masalawad, a housewife from Haliyal, aspired to become an entrepreneur. She began enquiring with friends and relatives about the best business opportunities. During this process, one of her friends introduced her to CBD RSETI for Jute Products Udyami Training in September 2023. Savita quickly mastered the cutting and designing skills of various jute bags and learned the essential entrepreneurial soft skills required for success.
Immediately after completing the training, Savita started producing jute bags from her home. She invested Rs. 3 lakhs from her savings to kickstart her business, focusing on quality and attractive designs. As a BSc graduate, she effectively used Google to explore different designs and color combinations. Her bags quickly gained a reputation, and people from faraway places began approaching her for jute bags. Seizing this opportunity, Savita participated in various exhibitions and fairs in Dharwad, Belgaum, Murdeshwar, and other locations. This exposure further popularized her products, leading to a surge in bulk orders.
To manage the increased workload, Savita hired assistants and expanded her market reach. Marketing is no longer a challenge for her. She believes that commitment to customer satisfaction will continue to drive good business.
Thanks to her excellent soft skills, she manages her business successfully. Savita now enjoys a monthly turnover of around Rs. 1 lakh, earning a net profit of Rs. 30,000 per month. She lives happily with her family and serves as a role model for many unemployed housewives, always remembering RSETI Haliyal for the positive change it brought to her life.
Mrs. Chandrabaga Channappa Kumbar
Mrs. Chandrabaga Channappa Kumbar hails from a humble potter family in Joidataluk. For years, the family’s modest income from traditional pottery sustained them.
In 2008, Chandrabaga founded the Sri Maureshwar Self-Help Group and became deeply involved in its activities. As she dedicated herself full-time to pottery, she recognized the need for a soil compactor machine to expand her business. Our Institute recommended that she approach the Canara Bank branch for financial support. The group secured a loan of Rs. 20 lakhs, along with an additional Rs. 2 lakhs personal loan. With this funding, Chandrabaga acquired the necessary machine, significantly increasing her production capacity.
Guided by Canara Bank Deshpande RSETI, Chandrabaga explored various marketing avenues, targeting resorts in Joidataluk and participating in local melas. She diversified her products to include glassware, decorative items, bangles, flower pots, and sculptures, gaining popularity locally and in neighboring regions such as Goa, especially during the Diwali season.
Today, thanks to her perseverance and the support from Canara Bank Deshpande RSETI and Canara Bank Joida, Chandrabaga has transformed into a successful entrepreneur. Her monthly net income has reached Rs. 27,000, a significant improvement. She remains grateful to the Institute for their invaluable guidance and support, which have uplifted her socio-economic status.
Smt. Mukta Baragi
Mrs. Muktha Paresh Baragi exemplifies the power of willpower and determination. Despite her physical disability, Muktha, a 42-year-old resident of Subhashnagar in MundgodTaluk, has overcome financial hardship by starting a utensil sales business.
Inspired by Canara Bank Deshpande RSETI, Muktha joined a Self-Help Group (SHG) of 10 women, where she learned financial management and banking. As the president of the group, she secured an internal bank loan to start her business. Ignoring her disability, Mukthatraveled to many villages, gradually expanding her business and increasing her profits. Her success enabled her to purchase a two-wheeler, boosting her monthly income to Rs. 25,000.
Through daily Pigmy savings, Muktha repaid her loan and reinvested in her business. Her husband supported her by purchasing utensils wholesale, which increased their profit margin. The earnings funded their children’s education, daily expenses, and further investments. She expresses her gratitude to CBDRSETI and her SHG for their support and guidance.
Mrs. Sujatha Ramesh Torskar
Mrs. Sujatha Ramesh Toraskar is a 40-year-old woman living in Belavatagi village, located in Haliyal Taluk. She is a dedicated mother of three children and the leader of the Saraswathi Mahila Self-Help Group, which includes 12 members.
Sujatha’s journey as an entrepreneur began when she participated in a dairy training program provided by CBDRSETI. With a loan of Rs. 18,000 from her self-help group and an additional Rs. 6,000 of her own money, she purchased a cow. This initial investment allowed her to start earning an income.
Building on her success in dairy farming, Sujatha took another step forward by attending a training program on pedal agarbatti (incense stick) making, also organized by CBDRSETI in collaboration with KVIC Hubli. This training helped her secure a loan of Rs. 1,50,000, which she used to buy a semi-automatic agarbatti-making machine. By diversifying her business to include agarbatti manufacturing and employing smart investments and local marketing strategies, she was able to increase her sales and revenue.
In addition to her agarbatti business, Sujatha operates a grocery shop where she also sells the agarbatti she produces. Her combined income from dairy farming, agarbatti manufacturing, and the grocery shop amounts to Rs. 19,500 per month.
Sujatha credits her entrepreneurial success to the support she received from Canara Bank and the training and resources provided by Deshpande RSETI.
